About the Biennial

An Art Meeting Shaped by the Mediterranean Spirit

The Mediterranean Biennial is a major art event held every two years, bringing together the cultural richness of Çukurova with the international contemporary art world.

Our Mission

To make the cultural diversity of the Mediterranean basin visible through art; to bring together artists, curators and art lovers from different cultures, languages and traditions in Adana.

Our Vision

To transform the Mediterranean Biennial into the most prestigious international contemporary art platform in the region and to permanently position Adana on the global art map.

2022

1st Mediterranean Biennial — 2022

Theme: Root & Migration

The first edition explored traces of migration and belonging in the Mediterranean geography. 72 artists from 18 countries exhibited at historic venues in Adana.

2nd Mediterranean Biennial — 2024

Theme: Water & Border

The second edition centered on the concepts of water and border surrounding the Mediterranean. It set records with 98 artists from 24 countries, 6 venues and over 40,000 visitors.

Güncel Edisyon

Theme: Light & Time

The third edition reinterprets Mediterranean light and the perception of time through art. The largest edition yet with over 120 artists from 28 countries.

Organization

The biennial is organized by the Çukurova Contemporary Art Culture and Education Foundation (ÇASAV), brought to life with international curatorial teams, local partners and hundreds of volunteers.
